This couple wanted their wedding to feel like a night out in the city they love: part art opening, part dinner party, part late-night dance club, all under one roof. They found their canvas at Artists For Humanity in South Boston, a bright, two-level gallery with a grand staircase, a wraparound balcony and walls hung with artwork by the program’s teen artists. Siagel Productions planned the wedding from the first walkthrough to the last dance and produced the whole night for 160 guests, ages 7 to 96.
Boston Wedding Planning: A Ceremony in the Center of the Dance Floor
Instead of splitting the night across rooms, we built the entire wedding around one spot: a 30’ x 22’ black gloss dance floor in the middle of the main gallery. Guests arrived and found seats around the floor, and the ceremony took place at its center beside Petal Pusher Studio’s floral installation. The bride made a solo entrance from the balcony, and the groom met her at the base of the flower-wrapped staircase so they could walk to the floor together. Siagel’s ceremony sound made every vow clear, and moving lights overhead held a soft spotlight on the couple.
After the recessional to “Praise You,” that same floor became the cocktail hour, then the first dance to “Head Over Feet,” then the party. There was no room flip and no dead time, and the flow felt natural to every guest.
Gallery Lighting and Pinspotting That Made the Art and Florals Glow
In a white gallery, lighting is the design. Our team uplit the full space on both levels, plus the entry, in a deep violet wash. Then we pinspotted 32 focal points, including every lounge, the bar, the tables, the food stations and the florals, so each arrangement and painting popped against the room. Four intelligent fixtures on truss over the dance floor washed the black gloss finish in moving light and turned the gallery into a nightclub once the dancing started.
Petal Pusher Studio’s suspended floral clouds, greenery-draped staircase and balcony garlands brought a garden-party softness to the industrial space, and the lighting tied it all into one cohesive look.
Lounges, Share Tables and a Party for Every Age
Rather than fill the room with banquet rounds, we furnished the gallery like a stylish living room. Royal-blue velvet lounges with custom monogram pillows and mirrored hexagon coffee tables anchored the art walls. Siagel’s Blue Steel Lounge added curved sectionals and steel-drum tables, and eight high cement share tables were lined with ghost stools, cordless black table lamps and potted ranunculus. Burgundy linens, clear ghost chairs and a 12-foot square bar finished the look. Gourmet Caterers served dinner from stations, so guests drifted from the lounges to the bar to the balcony all night.
Siagel DJ Kenny kept the room moving from the processional to the last song, and a mother-son dance for the groom and his mom was a sweet moment for everyone. The couple’s personal touches, like cocktail napkins printed with photos of their dogs and a Dairy Queen dessert station, made the night feel completely theirs. Younger guests headed home with Blizzards to go, and Kenny turned it up for an adults-only after-party that ran until midnight.
Boston Wedding Production, Start to Finish
Artists For Humanity is a working arts space, so timing mattered. Our crew hung the moving lights the night before, during another event in the building. We loaded in the dance floor, furniture and sound starting at 9 a.m. on the wedding day with almost no on-site storage, and we struck everything by 3 a.m. Siagel planner Jodi Gold ran the day, coordinating the venue, Gourmet Caterers, Petal Pusher Studio and Peak Event Services so the couple could simply enjoy it, and Kataram Studios captured every detail of the room.
A gallery can be a ceremony site, a dinner party and a dance club in one night when the planning, lighting and furniture are designed together. It’s exactly the kind of custom, detail-driven celebration Siagel Productions loves to create, and a standout example of Boston wedding planning.
